We are going to start this journey with a very somber story.....
A few months ago while all of our characters were sitting in different classes one morning, there was an announcement made over the school intercom system. The announcer requested students remain in their classrooms until released by their teachers. The reason being, the teachers were going to be receiving an important email message from the principal regarding a student, the teachers were then going to pass the information on to the students. The students started laughing and goofing off thinking it was some kind of silly prank or silly announcement.
They were completely unprepared for what they were about to learn.
All of the teachers received the email, one of our main characters Jordan was sitting at his desk chatting with his friends while watching his teacher read the email, and watching some of the other students goofing off.
The teacher read the email and turned and walked away from the computer. The students all jokingly started giving the teacher a hard time and saying come on read us the email your supposed to read it to us. The teacher reluctantly walked back to the computer and stood in front of the monitor and started reading the email to the students.
The email read: we are sorry to inform you but one of our students Vince has just passed away. Every students head dropped. You could have heard a pin drop it was so quite. Jordan and a few of the other students were extremely upset and stated that they needed to leave the classroom. The teacher refused to let them leave the room and explained to them that it was necessary for them to remain in the classroom until they were given the ok to leave the classroom.
So the entire class just sat there in silence for about 30 minutes.
Jordan went to lunch after class ended, and the lunchroom was deathly quite, for a high school lunch room. Jordan ran into Alexis and Abby in the lunchroom and instantly started crying.
After lunch Jordan and a couple of other friends ran into the school counselor in the hallway. The counselor asked how they were handling things and if they were doing OK.They asked the counselor what happened?
At this point they were all thinking maybe he had gotten into a some sort of car accident, because he had a tendency to do some things he shouldn't have been doing when he was driving.
The counselor then explained to them that Vince had taken his own life. That was a hard blow for everyone, Jordan started crying with a couple of other friends who were there with him.
The rest of the day and for weeks to come the school was silent. Everyone was consumed with their own thoughts and grieving for a great friend they had lost. Everyone was heart broken and totally shocked that someone they knew and were close to had taken his own life.
Then comes the questions.
Why?
Was he depressed?
Was he being bullied?
Was he trying to pull a prank that went wrong?
I guess we'll never really know.
